Narcotics factory busted, 7 foreigners held

New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, India's Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has unearthed a factory manufacturing Ecstasy tablets and has arrested six Chinese nationals and a Canadian.

Officials said that the raid was conducted Tuesday in Gurgaon on the outskirts of the national capital.

"They had set up a drug making factory in the garb of a plastic manufacturing unit," said a senior NCB official. "They were manufacturing Ecstasy tablets that sold at very high prices in the international market."

NCB sleuths recovered 550 kg of ephedrine and one tonne of assorted chemicals, with the total consignment worth Rs.300 million.

The six Chinese were from Hong Kong, while the Canadian was of Indian origin, according to the officials.
