New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS) Stressing on the need for cleanliness in trains and railway stations, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said 2007-08 will be observed as "Cleanliness Year".
"During this year, a special campaign will be launched to ensure cleanliness and hygiene at station premises, in passenger trains, railway lines and waiting rooms," the minister said while presenting the railway budget.
He added that the ministry hoped to complete the work in 300 stations by March next year.
"This was very important and I am happy this has finally come to the notice of the minister. They have always failed to understand the importance of cleanliness, but I hope this will be taken care of now," Rinky Ganguly, a teacher here, told IANS.
