Shimla, March 19 (IANS) Gammon and Patel Company Monday started construction work on the Rs.170 million twin tunnels of a major hydel project in Himachal Pradesh.
The firm is working on the Kajo and Goshai edit tunnels near Rampur, 160 km from here, on the banks of Sutlej river.
Once work is completed on these tunnels, it will pave the way for the construction of the 412 MW Rampur project's powerhouse in the Sutlej basin in Shimla district. The project is to be completed at a cost of Rs.27 billion by 2011.
