New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) Three people were charred to death and another three sustained serious burns when a gas cylinder exploded here, police said Monday.
The accident occurred early Monday when a leaking gas cylinder burst into flames in a house in Rohini, northwest Delhi, a police official said
The victims were immediately rushed to the Safdarjung Hospital where three people succumbed to their injuries, while three others remained in a serious condition.
The deceased were identified as Lali (28), Kavita (3), and five-month-old Meenu. Bhimsen (30), Sonia (7) and Raja (five) sustained 80 percent burns , the official said.
"Initial investigations suggest that the house was set on fire when Bhimsen tried to lit a cigarette," he added.
