Chandigarh, March 26 (IANS) The first SAARC car rally will Wednesday cross the Wagah land border post from India into Pakistan.
Nearly 100 participants are travelling in 30 Tata Safari sports utility vehicles (SUVs) from Dhaka - the venue of the 13th summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation in December 2005 - since March 15.
The rally will culminate April 14 in the Maldives after covering a distance of 8,200 km through all SAARC countries.
It will reach here Tuesday and will be flagged off Wednesday morning for Wagah.
It will reach Delhi April 1, ahead of the 14th SAARC summit to be held there, and will be given a ceremonial flag-off April 3.
The rally is aimed at encouraging camaraderie among the SAARC nations and their people.
