Denmark donates 45M USD for Zambia infrastructure development

Livingstone, Zambia, March 27 (NNN-ZANIS) The Danish government has given Zambia 45 million USD for infrastructure development, water and sanitation, education and good governance programmes, says Danish Ambassador to Zambia Orla Bakdal.

The amount includes one million USD in financial assistance to the Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES) for infrastructure development, he said, expressing confidence that it would make the college self-sustaining and efficient.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS here, he said the Danish government was ready to work with the Zambian government in various develoment undertakings. He lauded the government for its prudence in the management of resources and hoped that the grant would help in the improvement of infrastructure and good governance.

Speaking during a visit to Danish government-funded projects, he commended the Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES) for the rehabilitation works at the college and said the additional one million USD for the college would go a long way in improving its status.

Southern Province Permanent Secretary Darius Hakayobe, commending the Danish government for the financial support to LIBES, said LIBES is one of the best colleges in the country.
