Srinagar, May 12. Normal life here was dislocated Friday by a strike called in protest against alleged government inaction in a sex racket that has rocked the state for the past several days.
The strike, called by the Kashmir Bar Association (KBA), here saw shops and business establishments closed in Srinagar while attendance in state government offices, banks and educational institutions was thin.
Skeletal traffic was plying on the streets in Srinagar.
Security has been high in the Jammu and Kashmir capital city with police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troops deployed in strength to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, a 12-member Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, headed by Pankaj Kumar deputy inspector general of police, began investigations into the alleged sex scandal unearthed by state police recently in which several top politicians, businessmen and bureaucrats are allegedly involved.
"The CBI team comprises of three woman police officers and it has taken over the investigations in the case after detailed briefings by senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir police," said a state official here.
