Paris, Aug 29 (DPA) European aerospace giant EADS said Tuesday it would invest up to two billion euros ($2.56 billion) in over 15 years in high-tech research and production sites.

The investments will generate about 2,000 new jobs, EADS said in a press statement.

"India is becoming a major player in the aeronautics industry and is a high-priority country for EADS because it offers market potential and solid competence in aerospace and defence," EADS co-chief Thomas Enders said during his current trip to India with German Economy Minister Michael Glos.

In addition, according to a recent report by Financial Times Deutschland, EADS subsidiary Eurocopter is to work with the Indian group Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd to develop a new military helicopter.
