Congress 'shadow cabinet' to monitor Munda government
Ranchi, June 6 (IANS) To keep a tab on the functioning of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Jharkhand, the opposition Congress has constituted a "shadow cabinet".
The shadow cabinet has 31 members who will keep a close watch on the functioning of ministers and any corruption in government departments.
It will submit its report every three months to state party president Pradeep Balmuchu who is also "shadow chief minister". Leaders like Rakesh Sinha, Shashi Bhushan Rai and Alok Dubey are members of the shadow cabinet.
"The shadow cabinet will keep a watch on the functioning of each department and funds coming to it and their utilisation. Our party will not allow the Jharkhand government to plunder the money of the people for whom the state was carved out of Bihar," Rakesh Sinha, who is monitoring the power ministry, told IANS.
"Look at the power scenario in Jharkhand. State capital Ranchi faces 8 to 10 hours of power shutdowns," said Sinha, who is also a delegate member of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).
Congress leader Madan Mohan Sharma said: "Former chief minister Babulal Marandi quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the corruption issue. The state was created for deprived people and the deprived have been neglected more after the BJP government took over in Jharkhand.
"Each minister of the shadow cabinet will prepare a report on the department he monitors. These reports will include fund allocation, expenses, central funds inflow and expenditure and the functioning of ministers.
"Every three months the report will be submitted to state president (chief minister) of the shadow cabinet. We will expose the corruption prevailing in different departments," he said.
