Musharraf to address meet on Kashmir in Brussels

Brussels, Sep 7 (IANS) During his first visit of the European Union headquarters here next week, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will hold talks on a wide range of issues with EU officials and also address a meet on Kashmir.

Musharraf is scheduled to meet EU foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt.

Discussions are expected to focus on India-Pakistan relations, Afghanistan and Iran's nuclear programme, apart from Pakistan's relations with the EU.

On Tuesday, Musharraf will also speak at the "Global discourse on Kashmir" organised here by the All Party Group for Kashmir in the European Parliament and the Kashmir Centre.

He will also address the foreign relations committee of the European Parliament the same day.

Speaking to INEP agency, EU sources described the visit as "very significant" noting that it will be his first ever visit to Brussels.

Musharraf will visit Europe, Cuba and the US during his tour Sep 11-28.

From Brussels, Musharraf will proceed to Havana to attend the summit conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) where he is expected to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
