Death sentences for terror attackers in Egypt

Cairo, Sep 8 (DPA) An Egyptian security court sentenced three men to death for their roles in 2004 terrorist attacks that killed 39 tourists.

The court is yet to issue verdicts for 11 other accused.

The official MENA news service reported Thursday that the case will resume on November 30 to hand down verdicts against the others accused in the attacks.

Coordinated suicide attacks at a hotel in Taba and two vacation camps in October 2004 in the Sinai Peninsula killed 39 people, mostly Israeli tourists.

International human rights organisations have criticised the trials, because the defendants were allegedly tortured during their interrogations.
