BCCI names three to ICC umpires' panel

Mumbai, Sep 8 (IANS) The Indian cricket board has recommended Amish Saheba, Suresh Shastri and G.A. Pratap Kumar to the International Cricket Council (ICC) International Umpires' panel, replacing the three current officials.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said Friday the decision was taken at the umpires sub-committee meeting.

The trio would replace A.V. Jayaprakash, K. Hariharan and I. Sivaram, who have been serving on the ICC International Panel, a rung below the Elite Panel.

Saheba and Shastri have been recommended as field umpires, while Pratap Kumar has been recommended for third umpire.

The BCCI also announced 29 umpires have been shortlisted following an examination held in New Delhi recently. They will now appear for viva-voce.

Some cricketers who have played more that 25 first class matches will also appear for the viva and practical test.

From these candidates the BCCI will finally select a panel of 20 to 25 umpires for its panel.
