PM nominated as vice-patron, Speaker as president of CPA
New Delhi, Sept 10 (ZEENEWS.COM) The General Assembly of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) on Saturday nominated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as its vice-patron and elected Lok Sabha Somnath Chatterjee as the president of the CPA.
India will host the 53rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference at New Delhi in September next year, according to an official release issued here.
Chatterjee is leading an Indian parliamentary delegation to the 52nd CPA Conference being held in Abuja in Nigeria.
Bomb blast in Malegaon in Maharashtra and the mine accident in Jharkhand echoed in the General Assembly too.
NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul on behalf of the other delegates attending the conference expressed deep sympathy at India's loss and offered condolences to the bereaved families.
