Washington, Sep 10 (IANS) The United States has taken note of "far too many terrorist attacks on Indian soil" and expressed full support for India in its fight against terrorism as a full partner.

"There have been far too many terrorist attacks on Indian soil. The United States is fully supportive of the Indian government and the Indian people and considers itself a full partner with India in its fight against terrorism," State Department spokesman Sean McCormac stated Saturday.

"We are saddened by the brutal terrorist bombings that killed innocent civilians outside a mosque in Malegaon (Maharashtra) this week," he said in a reaction to the incident that claimed 38 lives.

"There can be no justification for such heinous acts. We offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in the attack and wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured" he added.

Meanwhile, the American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) (USA & Canada) has also condemned the Malegaon attack as a "dastardly act of violence" and urged the Indian government to act swiftly in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

"On behalf of AFMI, I want to extend our deepest sympathies to the victims of the attacks in Malegaon and their families. This was a cowardly act of violence clearly aimed at innocent civilians," Akram Syed, President of AFMI said in a statement issued from Farmington, Michigan.

"AFMI urges the Indian government to take prompt action in apprehending the perpetrators of these heinous crimes and in bringing them to justice. We also urge the people of India to maintain peace and not to fall prey to the machinations of those who promote hatred and want to create disunity in the country, " he added.
