Blair in Israel to discuss stalled peace process

Jerusalem, Sep 9 (Xinhua) British Prime Minister Tony Blair arrived in Tel Aviv on Saturday for a visit to Israel, during which he will hold talks with his Israeli counterpart Ehud Olmert on the stalled Middle East peace process.

Upon his arrival, Blair headed straight to Jerusalem for talks with Olmert on the stalled peace process, especially the fragile Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to officials.

Earlier in the day, sources in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's office said Abbas was also expected to meet Blair in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Sunday.

The sources said that Abbas and Blair would discuss the current situation in the Palestinian territories, including the resumption of peace negotiations with Israel and the captive Israeli soldier in Gaza.
