BJP-SAD demands ban on controversial book

Jalandhar, Sept 11 (ZEENEWS.COM) Alleging that the United Progress Alliance (UPA) government was deliberately distorting the history of Sikh and Hindu religions, BJP along with its state alliance partner SAD on Sunday demanded immediate ban on a controversial book and burnt effigy of the Union Minister Arjun Singh.

While talking to newsmen BJP`s state working committee member R P Singh alleged that the history books, which were earlier banned by the NDA government were again put back by the Congress government in which facts about Sikh religion were contorted and distorted.

He alleged that author Vipin Chandra wrote damaging and derogatory material about Guru Gobind Singh in the official book of the N.C.E.R.T modern Indian history.

Not only about the Sikh religious preachers but shabby things were written about the Hindu goddess Kali Mata in some other history books, he further alleged.

He threatened that BJP-SAD would intensify the agitation against the alleged distortion of Sikh and Hindu religions through the school books, which were being taught to the students of class eleventh across the country.

He alleged that the congress government was trying to create a rift between various religious communities by indulging in such practices, which could harm the interests of the country.

Later on BJP and SAD workers gather at local company Bagh Chowk and burnt effigy of the Union Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh.
