New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) Thursday approved the construction of a New International Terminal Building at Thiruvananthapuram airport.

The building will be constructed in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs.2.45 billion with a foreign exchange component of Rs.226 million to meet the projected growth in passenger traffic, an official statement said.

The estimated cost of construction of the first phase of the project is Rs.1.65 billion and that of second phase Rs.800 million. The first phase is likely to be completed in 18 months from the date of awarding of the contract.
