38 unidentified bodies found in Baghdad

Baghdad, Sep 22 (DPA) Thirty-eight unidentified bodies were found in several districts of Baghdad Friday. All had been shot and most were blindfolded with hands tied, police sources said

The bodies had not yet been identified.

Baghdad morgues have seen some 1,500 such corpses through August and September, many of them also with torture wounds.

Shia death squads, often made up of militia members and policemen, and Sunni extremists in the Iraqi capital frequently kill members of the opposing religious sect.

Meanwhile, a US soldier was killed near Baghdad when his vehicle struck an explosive device while another was killed by insurgents in Anbar, the US military said Friday.
