Cairo, Sept 22 (NNN-MENA) The Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, stressed that dialogue is going on with the Roman Catholoic Church despite the mistake committed by Pope Benedict XVI.

"We believe in dialogue ... Muslims will not be affected by dialogue with anyone," Tantawi said in an interview with the el-Gomhuria newspaper published on Thursday.

"No one can deny that there is a war on Islam and Al-Azhar’s responsibility is to answer back whoever harms our religion or our Prophet," he said.

He stressed that the number of foreigners embracing Islam is rising.
