Short film to showcase strides in science

New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS) The ministry of science and technology has made a short film to showcase the strides that the country has taken in the field of science and technology.

Produced in collaboration with the National Geographic Channel, 'Science Safari' is a part of an innovative yearlong campaign to promote science and technology.

Speaking after the preview screening of the film to be telecast Sep 26, Minister of Science and Technology Kapil Sibal said, "Through this programme, we want to create awareness among the people of our country, especially children, about our achievements in this field and to encourage the spirit of scientific inquiry."

The 48-minute film is an eclectic mix of scientific achievements across India and presents various innovations made by well-known Indian scientists and some unknown inventors in an interesting travelogue format.

"It showcases the spirit of innovation and discovery in the fields of biotechnology, drugs, medicines, stem cells, agriculture, genetic engineering, education, bio-processing, manufacturing, non-conventional energy and more," Sibal said.

Besides National Geographic Channel, the film will also be shown on Doordarshan. It will be telecast both in English and Hindi. It will also be dubbed in other regional languages.
