AMUSU election results announced

Aligarh, Sept 23 (IndianMuslims.info) In an unusual student body election where political parties are kept away from the campus, no posters were pasted on University buildings and no property was damaged or defaced.

Elections to the Aligarth Muslim University Students' Union (AMUSU) concluded here with the announcement of the results.

Mr. Nafees Ahmad was declared elected to the post of the President of AMU Students’ Union. He defeated his nearest rival Mr. Abdul Mabood Raza. For the post of Vice President, Mr. Syed Mazin Husain Zaidi was declared elected who defeated Mr. Rashid Ali. Mr. Sulaiman Mohammad Khan won the election for the important post of Hony. Secretary by defeating Mr. Kashif Hassan.

The polling was around seventy percent. Professor Noor Mohammad, Chief Election Officer announced the results.

Ten candidates were elected as Cabinet Members. Miss Azma Fatima of B.Tech was declared Senior Cabinet. Eleven students were also elected to the AMU Court, the supreme governing body of the University.

The elections were conducted peacefully and no untoward incident took place.

The Vice-Chancellor has congratulated the elected representatives as well as the entire students' community for their whole hearted and disciplined participation in this democratic exercise. He also thanked all those members of the teaching and non-teaching staff who were involved in the conduct of these elections.
