Take action against Star TV : Deoband alumni

Mumbai, Sept 23 (IndianMuslims.info) A meeting of Alumni of Darul Uloom Deoban on Friday to discuss the sting operation aired by Star News Channel showing muftis accepting money for issuing fatwas. The alumnis called it a conspiracy against Darul Uloom Deoband.

Meeting was held after Juma prayers in the Darul Uloom Deoband at Nagpara, Mumbai. The meeting was presided over by Maulana Zillur Rahman Siddiqi under the patronage of Mufti Azizur Rahman (Grand Mufti of Maharashtra).

Participants opined that it was a framed conspiracy to insult Muslim mass who respect the Darul Uloom and follow its idealogy.

In the unanimous resolution meeting termed the suspension of Mufti Habidur Rahman as one "taken in a hurry" and after investigation and clarification feels that there is "no reason to keep Mufti sahib under suspension."

Further, alumnis urged the Executive Council of Darul Uloom to sue the Star Channel for "false propogation, defamantion" of this premier institution of Islamic learning in South Asia.

Darul Uloom was founded in 1866 by several prominent ulema, headed by Al Imam Mohammad Qasim Nanotwi. The other prominent scholars were Allama Rashid Ahmed Gangohi, Haji Syed Abid Hussain etc in town of Deoband in Uttar Pradesh.

The meeting of Deoband alumnis urged people to restrain from spreading falsehood. They assured Darul Uloom of full cooperation in removing the misconception from people’s minds and while taking legal action against the channel they will offer every possible support.
