Iran, Lebanon call for expansion of parliamentary cooperation

Beirut, Sept 24 (IRNA) Head of Majlis Commission for National Security and Foreign Policy Ala'eddin Boroujerdi, heading an Iranian parliamentary delegation, conferred with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri here on Saturday on expansion of mutual cooperation along with regional developments.

At the meeting, Boroujerdi handed over an invitation from Iran's Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel to Nabih Berri inviting him to attend in the upcoming confab on 'Peace in Asia' which is to be held in Tehran during November 12-14.

After the meeting, the Iranian envoy attended a press conference where he lauded the constructive and positive stands of Nabih Berri during Israel's attacks over Lebanon and called it a 'determinant' in the victory of Lebanese resistance movement in the fight against the Zionists.

Construction of Lebanon is of prime importance, he said adding that the Iranian government has dispatched various groups to discus Iran's cooperation in the reconstruction of Lebanon.

Condemning the atrocities of the Zionist against defenseless Lebanese civilians, he said the Lebanese government and nation could deal with negative consequences of Zionists attacks through unity and solidarity and manage to overcome their domestic issues.

Iran's parliamentary delegation arrived in Beirut on Friday to confer with the country's political and religious personalities on the regional developments.
