Iran unveils new aerial drones

Tehran, Sept 25 (NDTV.COM) Iran unveiled what it claims is a new generation of unmanned planes or aerial drones at a special exhibition on Sunday.

The event was inaugurated by Defence Minister Brigadier General Mustafa Mohammad Najar.

The drones, also known as Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), have a high capability, precision and are adaptable to various climates, Najar said.

Iran says it intends to deploy the planes to patrol borders and increase border security.

Drones can carry missiles and explosives and are often used for target practice and increasingly for surveillance.
