Flood death toll rises to 104 in Afghanistan

Kabul, April 4 (Xinhua) The death toll from torrential rains and flooding which hit several parts of Afghanistan since late last week has risen to 104, a local newspaper reported Wednesday.

"One hundred and four people had lost their lives and 94 others were injured in the three-day countrywide rains and flooding in different parts of Afghanistan," according to daily Outlook published here on Wednesday.

The floods also destroyed 28,000 acres of farmlands and washed away 68 bridges and 402 km of roads.

More than 4,000 animals were killed and 102,459 newly planted saplings were rooted out due to the rains and floods in different provinces of Afghanistan.
