Sydney, Feb 14 (DPA) An aggrieved husband shot dead his wife's lover in a Valentine's Day killing that has shocked a small Australian country town.

Police in the New South Wales town of Gulgong were looking Wednesday for a 48-year-old man in the death of another middle-aged man.

A Gulgong resident told Australia's AAP news agency that the accused killer was a well-known businessman in the town who had shot his estranged wife's lover.

"She actually left him three weeks ago," the woman said, requesting anonymity. "He's a prominent person in the community. It's come as a real shock."
