Berlin, Feb 26, (IRNA) Germany's center-rightist government is considering to slap heavy fines on foreigners who refuse to learn the German-language, an Interior Ministry spokesman said here Monday.

"We are contemplating additional sanctions against foreigners who refuse to attend integration and language courses. One option would be to impose monetary fines," Stefan Kaller announced during the weekly government news briefing.

A final decision could be made by this summer, the German official added.

He pointed out that a comprehensive immigration bill was being drafted based on immigration law guidelines of the European Union.

The German press reported earlier that fines against foreigners who refuse to attend integration courses, could be up to 1,000 euros.

Furthermore foreigners who incite to hatred and insult a group of people, could also face deportation.
