Eleven ships deployed to search forwrekage of ferry boat Levina 1

Jakarta, Feb 26 (NNN-ANTARA)Some 25 Search and Rescue teams aboard eleven ships were deployed on Monday morning to search for three people who have gone missing after the charred ferryboat Levina I sank in the Muara Gembong waters on Sunday.

The SAR teams left Jakarta`s Tanjung Priok port for the location of the sunken vessel at 08.30 a.m on Monday, field coordinator of the Western Indonesian Fleet Command Col. Didin ZA said.

He said rescue workers had found the wreckage of the ill-fated vessel 16 meters beneath the sea surface.

The wreckage of ferryboat Levina I which caught fire last Thursday sank on Sunday afternoon when around 20 people consisting of investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (KNKT), forensic officers from the National Police Headquarters and journalists were going over the vessel.

Lativi cameraman Suherman was killed in the accident, while three people identified as Muhammad Guntur, a SCTV cameraman, and Adj. Sr. Comr. Sugeng Widodo and Comr. Widiantoro, both forensic officers of the National Police Headquarters, are still missing.
