ScratchGard to expand operations in India
Hyderabad, Jan 30 (IANS) ScratchGard Overseas, a fully owned subsidiary of ScratchGard, Britain, a leading manufacturer and processor of specialty films and composites, Tuesday announced its plans to expand its operations all over the country.
The company, which offers screen protectors for mobile phones, pocket PCs, digital cameras, laptops and LCD screens, has offices in seven cities, servicing over 2,000 retail customers. It plans to increase the number to 10,000 across all major cities.
Launching the company's operations here, its managing director Rahul Bathija said it was currently selling 50,000 units per month.
ScratchGard, which launched its operations in India in 2005, has a process unit in Mumbai.
He said the company caters to only two percent of the mobile accessories market in India. Bathija, however, hoped that this share would go up as the accessories market was expanding along with the huge jump in sales of mobiles.
ScratchGard screen protectors, the price of which range from Rs.50 to Rs.900, are made by propriety technology and laser cut process.
He said the company, which has its operations in US, Europe and Middle East, would be setting up a plant in Dubai free zone by April this year at an estimated cost of $300,000.
