Jerusalem's oldest cemetery is under threat

TUNISIA, Jan 30 (NNN-SANA) – Director General of Arab League for Education, Culture & Science Organization Dr. al-Manji Bossnineh warned Monday against the great dangers threatening Jerusalem's historic Cemetery of Maman Allah, pointing out that Maman Allah is one of the most important Arab historic sites.

He underlined that the graveyard, which is 13 centuries old, means a lot to the all Arab and Moslems because several Arab and Islamic landmarks were buried there.

In a letter to the UNESCO Director General, Bossnineh clarified that the Israeli authorities have occupied a great part of the historic cemetery and built parks and car parking instead, "they also intend to put their hands on the rest of the graveyard, "he added.

He called upon the international organization to exert pressure on Israel to stop this violation.

The cemetery is oldest in Jerusalem, going back to the 7th century
