Indian military cadet killed in a grenade blast in Dehradun

New Delhi, March 10(IRNA) An Indian Military Academy (IMA) cadet has been killed and a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) seriously injured in an accidental grenade blast during live training exercise in Dehradun, capital of Uttaranchal state.

According to reports received here quoting army spokesman, said the grenade exploded when the NCO was imparting to training to the cadets, Friday.

The dead cadet B K Tiwari, who hailed from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, received shrapnel injuries and succumbed to them in the IMA hospital, he said.

The condition of the instructor-NCO, whose identity was not immediately available, was stated to be serious.

The army has ordered a court of inquiry to probe the first ever incident of its kind in IMA.
