Clijsters to make Grand Slam goodbye at Wimbledon

Brussels, March 20 (DPA) Kim Clijsters added the US Open to the list of events she will skip as the 23-year-old bids adieu to tennis.

The Belgian's last major will be Wimbledon after she announced her withdrawal from the French Open over the weekend and then decided to give Flushing Meadows a miss in order to have a honeymoon following her scheduled July marriage.

Clijsters is due to marry Belgian-based US basketball player Brian Lynch before wrapping up her career.

She lifted her only major in New York in 2005.

"It is difficult to know whether I will be able to make it to the US Open," she said on her website. "I am sure about Luxembourg (in September after New York) and Stuttgart (in October)," she said.

"These tournaments will be the last chance to see me play one more time. Then tennis will be over and I'll finally be starting the new part of my life I have been longing for."

Multi-millionaire Clijsters has long expressed the desire to become a housewife and mother.
