Fake encounter victim's kin offers kidney to Geelani

Jammu, March 24(IANS) A relative of the victim of a fake encounter in Jammu and Kashmir has offered one of his kidneys to Kashmiri separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani suffering from cancer.

Javed Iqbal Padder, 22,is travelling to Mumbai to offer his kidney to ailing Geelani.

Chairman of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, Geelani is presently undergoing treatment at the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital Mumbai following deterioration of his health Wednesday evening.

Geelani has been diagnosed of renal cancer and had applied for US visa to be treated there. However his visa to travel to the US is still to be cleared.

If Javed's blood group matches with Geelani then only the kidney transplantation would be carried, sources said.

Javed's relative Abdur Rehman Padder was reportedly killed in a staged police encounter in Srinagar.

Earlier, Moderate Hurriyat spokesperson Shahidul Islam had offered Geelani his kidney.

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan had also offered to treat the ailing Geelani at his Shoukat Khanam Cancer Hospital in Lahore.
