Indian defeat delays Sreesanth's album, family upset
Kochi (Kerala), March 24 (IANS) India's shock defeat to Sri Lanka and its exit from the World Cup has cast a pall of gloom at bowler S. Sreesanth's Kerala home, especially since the loss will delay the young cricketer's music album.
Sreesanth's elder brother Dipu Santhan, also producer of the Hindi music album, said 10 songs were planned, of which two were based on cricket and eight were patriotic songs.
"One song ('Jago India'), featuring Sreesanth and a few models, has already been shot and was supposed to be released the day the World Cup's Super 8 fixtures was to begin. Now that we are almost out of the tournament, the release has been delayed," Santhan told IANS.
He added: "The song was sung by singer Madhu Balakrishnan, Sreesanth's brother-in-law. There is no point in releasing it now. We may launch it in the forthcoming series where we play England."
Santhan said his family was feeling terrible after India's defeat.
" No, he (Sreesanth) is yet to call us. He called us before the match began and they were certain that India would win. The batting failed and its really bad that India is virtually out of the World Cup," Santhan rued.
Sreesanth's mother, 56-year-old Savithiri Devi, is the most affected and is yet to come to terms with the loss. She was quite confident that India would progress to the final.
"Yes, she is really sad but what can we do?" lamented Santhan, who incidentally was Sreesanth's cricket icon in childhood.
