New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Richard Stagg has been named as the next British high commissioner to India.

"Stagg has been appointed British high commissioner to India in succession to Sir Michael Arthur, who will be transferring to another diplomatic service appointment," a press release by the British High Commission said here Monday.

Stagg, a veteran diplomat who had served as the country's ambassador to Bulgaria, will take up his new appointment in September.
