Al-Quds not just an Arab, Islamic cause,says Algerian PM
Algiers, March 28 (NNN-APS) Al-Quds (Jerusalem) is not only an Arab and Islamic cause, but also a human cause,Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem declared here Monday.
In a statement at the opening of the Fifth Annual Conference of the Al-Quds International Foundation, he said "Al-Quds takes its human dimension from the fact that it has been, for thousands of years, and it remains the symbol of religious and civilizational co-existence".
This city "has a privileged place in the heart of the Algerian society," he said, while stressing Algerians' attachment to this Holy City.
"What feeds this spiritual relation ( ... ), in addition to the search of knowledge and faith, is Algerians’ honourable participation to Jihad during the crusades ( ... ) until the re-conquest of Al-Quds by Salaheddine Al Ayoubi.�
Belkhadem also highlighted the Algerian presence in the Al-Maghariba district in Al-Quds, stressing that "King Al Afdhal Ben Salaheddine decreed this heritage district the wakf (Islamic endowed property) of Algerians."
