Puducherry, March 30 (IANS) The Congress-led alliance in Puducherry has decided to observe a total band Saturday to protest the Supreme Court stay on 27 percent quota for other backward classes (OBCs) in elite educational institutions.
The call for bandh has been given the DMK and other coalition partners of the Congress.
DMK leader R.V. Janakiraman chaired a meeting of its allies in the union territory, which adopted a resolution seeking a joint meeting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to discuss the situation arising out of the verdict.
Like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry felt that the order "was a setback to the privileges of Parliament and also to social justice", leaders said.
