Envoy invites Japan to play a role in Middle East problems

Tokyo, March 30, (IRNA) Iranian Ambassador to Tokyo Mohsen Talaei in an exclusive interview with the Japanese daily Mainichi called on Tokyo to play a more active role in solving the problems facing the Middle East.

Quoting the Iranian diplomat, Mainichi wrote on Friday that Japan can present proposals and initiatives on Iran's nuclear issue, which will be quite different from those of US and Europe.

"Turning to Japan's positive and favorable reputation among the Middle East people and its high interest in the region's energy, Talaei hoped that this country will play an effective role in this regard," he added.

According to the daily, the Iranian ambassador underlined the importance of expansion of Iran-Japan relations and officially invited the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to visit Iran.
