Seven more PKK rebels killed in clashes in N Iraq

Ankara : Turkish General Staff said on Thursday that seven rebels of the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) were neutralized on the 7th day of the cross-border operation into north Iraq, bring the death toll to 237 since the beginning of the operation.

Wellington : New Zealand's most wanted man, Nai Yin Xue, suspected of murdering his wife in September in Auckland and then abandoning their three-year-old daughter in Australia, has been arrested in the US, it was reported Friday.
Suicide bomber killed in blast near Colombo harbour

Colombo : A suspected Tamil Tiger suicide bomber was killed and eight others injured in a blast near the Colombo harbour early Friday.
Military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara told IANS that a police party was searching a house in Aluth Mawatha in Modera near the Colombo harbour when a bomb suddenly went off there at about 6.10 am.

Lucknow : Jailed underworld don turned independent legislator Mukhtar Ansari Thursday accused Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh of hatching a conspiracy to get him killed.
The allegation was levelled on the floor of the assembly through an adjournment motion sought to be moved by Ansari, who was on a parole from jail.
Assailants throw acid on Delhi schoolteacher

New Delhi : Two unidentified men threw acid on a schoolteacher, who has been admitted to a hospital with severe burn injuries, a senior police official said Thursday.
The incident occurred Wednesday when Asha Sanhotra, a resident of Ashok Vihar in northwest Delhi, alighted from her school bus at around 3.30 p.m. and headed towards her house.
Delhi Police fined for illegal detention

New Delhi : The Delhi High court Thursday slapped a fine of Rs.50,000 on the capital's police force for illegally detaining a person last year.
The court also asked the Delhi Police commissioner to hold an inquiry against the officials responsible for the illegal detention.
Blueline kills elderly man in south Delhi

New Delhi : An elderly man was Thursday mowed down by a speeding Blueline bus after being hit from behind in south Delhi, the police said.
The accident occurred in the morning when the bus plying on Route No 463 hit the bicycle rider, who was yet to be identified, near the Asian Market in Mehrauli area.

New Delhi : Two people have been arrested here for trying to sell 2.5 kg of ivory worth Rs.250,000, the police said Thursday. Trade in ivory is banned in India.
Aishwarya Vardhan, a 25-year-old graduate of the Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra, and Raju Kanwar, a 24-year-old from Bihar, were arrested Wednesday from Shanti Path area in New Delhi.
Missile strike in Pakistan kills 10, wounds 5

Islamabad : At least 10 persons were killed and five others were wounded in a missile strike in Pakistans South Waziristan tribal agency, bordering Afghanistan, said officials Thursday Three missiles were fired from undisclosed location after Wednesday midnight in Kalosha area, about 10 kilometers from Azam Warsak town of the agency, security officials told KUNA.
